從多元文化觀點檢視原住民新聞報導—以2006 年賽夏族「巴斯達隘」祭典為例
Review of the Indigenous News Report from a Multiculturalist Perspective- The Case of the Ritual Pasta ’ay of the Saisiyat Tribe in 2006
In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on Multiculturalism. Multiculturalism has also been the basic principle of laws and communication policy in Taiwan. This paper takes the Ritual Pasta ’ay of the Saisiyat Tribe in 2006as an example to review the indigenous news report in press based on Kincheloe and Steinberg classification of the five kinds of multicultural perspectives. The research finds that the news mostly take a pluralist perspective oriented toward "ethnic tourism" and "entertainment", and they lack a critical multiculturalist perspective focus on the power of dominance relations in society. This paper suggests that indigenous peoples should not be regarded as the cultural commodity and should have the chances and rights to express their opinions on media.
