Baseball was not only a sport event in Taiwan; it carried the high expectations and emotional commitments of Taiwanese, and also a symbolic of collective identification. The image of Chinese Taipei baseball representative team carrying out the national mission, and intense competitiveness between countries which were bursting with nationalism, were always happening in the international sporting events. Among the international events, Olympic was considered as a field that could ignite the national spirit and earn national honors. Text analysis is used to analyze the news coverage on the two Olympic baseball competitions (qualification games and regular games) in order to investigate the nationalism which had been represented in the news coverage.
