This paper intends to propose that there are actually two different structures of news narratives, namely discourse structure and story structure, just as Chatman (1978) claims in his book,《Story and discourse: Narraive structure in fiction and film》. The paper demonstrates and compares the differences between these two structures of news narratives separatly.
