The discussion of this paper is the perception of news people in Mainland China and Hong Kong about controversial reporting methods. Most past research and dissertations in this area are focus on the attitude for the controversial reporting and editing methods. However, research of perception is scarcity. This paper investigated the perception for the 13 controversial reporting methods by in-depth interview and found the discrepancy among 13 news people in Mainland China and Hong Kong as a result of different social system, organizational hierarchy, media nature, industry competition, value judgment, concept definition.
