A Conspiracy of Silence: about ’Information Exchanging Mechanism ’ among TV Journalists in Taiwan

This article analyzes 30 texts, in the way of discourse analysis, and finds out that there is a primary discourse structure existing in the mechanism. Journalists tend to profess all the information to win trust in the group. The advantage ostensibly is that journalists can grasp all the information in very short time, but the disadvantage is actually damaging to the ethics. The speech act ’bridging ’ tends to arise during
information exchanging, and make journalists cover the same issue. The novel journalist tends to present all the information as he could, and the senior to say little but still has to recourse the credit-debt some other day.
