Since Taiwan completed its 2 nd exchange of ruling party, Taiwan’s situation has undergone great changes which are favorable to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. A new situation has also been created for cross-strait journalism exchange and cooperation. This article summarizes the highlights and characteristics of cross-strait journalism exchange and cooperation in the new period, analyzes a number of problems existing in cross-strait journalism exchange and cooperation at the present stage, tries to put forward a few detailed countermeasures based on the status quo and prospects of the development of cross-strait relations, and applies the related journalism and communication theories, meanwhile refers to the relevant viewpoints of some cross-strait officials, scholars of home and abroad, as well as media persons. The aim is to contribute modestly to the issue on how cross-strait journalism exchange and cooperation can advance with the times and play well the role of cross-strait “cultural bellwether” during the post-ECFA period.
