英文摘要
This study aims to explore Ang Lee ’s successful transcendence of the regional and cultural bounds in Chinese-language films by having established a unique global view in auteur theory, aesthetics, and commerciality, demonstrating a possibility in crossing the borders between Eastern and Western cultures. At the same time, he points to the fusion between commercialization and artistry in the creative nexus in Chinese film, to which he signifies a clear analysis and solution in current trends and problems. It is hoped that this study on Ang Lee ’s films could further develop the goal of uniting
commerciality and artistry in future Chinese films, by adhering closer to the reality of one ’s own culture, creating a narrative structure with a more internationalized view, and speaking prominently under the sky of culture to which one belongs to.
