This study examines the correlations among the third-person effect, perceived negativity and involvement of the folk prescription news, which belongs to pseudoscience. The study regarded the elders as the third person according to the results of the interviews of pretest.

The results show both perceived negativity and involvement are significant positively to the third-person perception. Most of the respondents consider the influence of the folk prescription news is stronger to others than themselves. The more they perceived negative and be involved to folk prescription news, the more they have the third-person perception. But the third-person perception, involvement and perceived negativity can only predict part of the behavior to restricting media message.
