Today playing mobile phone between the process of face to face communication become a
new phenomenon. In the perspective of symbolic interaction, this study put this phenomenon
as a new interactive context rather than "problem". Playing the phone as a gesture, is to give
the signal of others of the interaction to leave, and this signal in the interaction of others,
cause a corresponding attitude response. As a result, Playing the phone become an interactive
symbol, the self can be temporarily set aside off face-to-face interaction and this attitude can
become a shared symbol and context, with the misappropriation and conversion of traditional
face-to-face interaction rules, the mobile phone become the border and interactive process
of self and others. The presence rather than communication become the new situation of
interpersonal communication. However, in the process of alienation between self and others,
the Chinese acquaintance relationship has been confirmed and strengthened by playing the
mobile phone .
