 本研究爬梳「直男」語意的流變,該詞彙從專指「異性戀男性」的中⽴詞彙轉為擁有不理解女性需求的負⾯詞彙,尤其經過臺灣主流媒體《⾃由時報》 與《聯合報》的簡化與強化,將「直男=不懂浪漫的異性戀男性」的標籤,建構為社會知識,並且以「鋼鐵」或是「⽊頭」等詞彙,區辨無可救藥的「直男」族群,使得眾⼈在此價值觀上,對「直男」產⽣既定的共識。臺灣社會的霸權陽剛氣質,⾃男兒有淚不輕彈或是成為有肩膀的男⼈,到消費主義盛⾏, 興起花美男、暖男等,流⾏注重外表打扮或是女性需求的男性,等於說「直 男」從過往推崇的霸權陽剛氣質,成為負⾯的男性典範。 縱然主流媒體似乎有建構更多元的「直男」圖像,並將該詞彙使⽤於女性,鬆動閱聽⼈對女性的性別框架,不過從使⽤⽅法上仍然是「直男」為負⾯的語意。從Youtbe《Dcard》和《HahaTai 哈哈台》頻道所呈現的內容來看,兩者頻道雖然都是以街訪的形式,詢問民眾對於「直男」的想法,但是 《Dcard》則強化「直男」負⾯語意︔《HahaTai 哈哈台》則呈現男性消極抵抗該詞彙的實踐,並傳遞「我直男,我驕傲」的概念。從兩個頻道的留⾔來看,《Dcard》留⾔者將外貌資本納入考量,並區分「直男」為未擁有外貌資本的異性戀男性︔《HahaTai 哈哈台》則是以經濟資本區辨。從上述可以看出,「直男」已經性別階級化。

英文摘要

 This study examines the semantic evolution of the term "straight men" and its transformation from a neutral term referring to heterosexual males to a negative term associated with a lack of understanding of women's needs. In particular, through simplification and amplification by mainstream media outlets such as the Taiwanbased newspapers "Liberty Times" and "United Daily News," the label of "straight men = heterosexual men who lack romantic understanding" has been constructed as social knowledge. Terms such as "steel" or "wood" are used to distinguish an irredeemable group of "straight men," leading to a consensus among the public regarding this value system. In Taiwanese society, the dominant hegemonic masculinity, from the ideal of "men don't shed tears" or being a strong male figure, has shifted to a focus on appearance and meeting women's demands, with trends like "flower boys" or "warm-hearted men." Consequently, the concept of "straight men" has transitioned from the previously revered hegemonic masculinity to a negative male archetype. Although mainstream media seems to construct more diverse images of "straight men" and extends the usage of this term to women, thereby loosening gender frameworks, the overall usage still carries a negative connotation for "straight men." Through an analysis of content presented on YouTube channels such as "Dcard" and "HahaTai," which feature street interviews asking people's opinions about "straight men," it is evident that "Dcard" reinforces the negative connotation of "straight men," while "HahaTai" showcases male resistance to this term and conveys the concept of "I am a straight man, I am proud." Looking at the comments on these two channels, "Dcard" commenters consider physical appearance as a defining factor, categorizing "straight men" as heterosexual males lacking physical attractiveness, whereas "HahaTai" differentiates based on economic capital. From the aforementioned observations, it can be inferred that "straight men" have been subject to gender stratification.
