Solved or not? The "iron cage" of "spiral of silence"

透過對沉默螺旋理論的內容與跨文化下的發展，了解其在地適用性問題。分析原始理論之假設定位、形成要件和測量方式，一方面了解其理論內涵與研究操作問題，另方面更透過各種跨文化下之研究問題，找出在台灣適用性之可能。

研究分析發現，須回歸到鉅觀角度使用該理論，才能以適當研究在地性問題。在操作上之首要關鍵在於議題選擇，爭議性問題比選舉議題更適合台灣脈絡。並在變項操作中更須進一步探討台灣本地特別的文化意涵。

This article examines the spiral of silence theory, and tries to find out how it is suitable in the relative research of Taiwan. From looking back to the development of the theory, there are several concepts of
theory and operation needing to be revised, especically for Taiwan ’s special election and media cultures. For well application in Taiwan, the rearch should take a macro view of the theory, and discuss the Taiwanese speical language context; the controvisual issue is a better choice in research than the election one.
